Live the Dream - Beyond the Bay

Keelboat and Multi-hull sailors, venture beyond club racing to the exciting world of ocean sailing!

The Ocean Racing Club of Victoria is running its very popular 'Beyond the Bay' program commencing next week 8 March, which aims to provide budding sailors a combination of knowledge and confidence to ‘get out there beyond the bay’.

This program is a series of evening educational sessions followed by two supervised weekend events providing participants with the opportunity, knowledge and support necessary to travel beyond the enclosed waters of Port Phillip.

With only 12 days till the program starts we would strongly encourage interested sailors to register.

Program
8 May          Program introduction, boat and crew preparation/safety gear.
26 Jun         Crew management, watch systems, night sailing, procedures and training.
23 Jul          Practical radio including onshore tracking and AIS.
14 Aug        Weather, provisioning, overnight challenge, TopYacht entry, safety audits.
11 Sep        More weather, tides and basic navigation.
21/22 Oct     Overnight Bay Navigators Challenge. A tactical challenge designed to apply knowledge   gained through sessions.
20/21 Nov    Latitude Challenge. The consolidation of the program, an all weekend event. Concluding at Blairgowrie Yacht Club for dinner and Graduation Ceremony. Sunday fun pursuit race.
